Community stakeholders are working together to build on existing resources to achieve a distinctive transit-oriented destination known for arts and innovation.
The Parkville Arts & Innovation District strategy builds on the thriving diverse residential community, the area’s historic industrial roots, its prime location along transit corridors, and the success of recent investments in entertainment, hospitality, and start-up businesses in the neighborhood.
Arts & Innovation Opportunities
- Innovation: Build a regional hub for startups and incubator businesses, attracting advanced manufacturing, artists, and emerging technology businesses.
- Training: Coordinate and connect to local STEAM and workforce training opportunities at nearby schools, community services, and public and private colleges and educational centers.
- Community: Nurture a diverse neighborhood of homeownership, apartment homes, restaurants, entertainment venues, retail, business ventures and workforce training, all in a walkable urban campus-like neighborhood.
With residents, small business owners, neighborhood institutions, city leaders, local industry and educational institutions working together, the Parkville Arts and Innovation District will become a community of skilled workers and entrepreneurial talent creating the innovative components, processes and products of the next industrial revolution.

The Design Center Building at 1429 Park Street is an existing hub for creativity and innovation.
Located along I-84 and CTfastrak, the District offers numerous assets and opportunities.
The District features a number of historic and architecturally interesting buildings poised for reuse.
